Welcome!

Welcome to my little nest on the Internet. This blog is a part of the Business English class I’m taking this fall. I still don’t know what will happen here, but feel free to check in every now and then to see what new thoughts I have managed to put into print.

And don’t forget to have a wonderful day!

It was nice reading what you have wrote. I agree to that snooping might not be the best way to raise the moral. Unfortunately is it the easiest way. The alternative is to, in a personal way discuss and confront, and if discussing, it should also be in a preventing purpose! This way of doing things can be “awkward”. Then the easy way is surveillance... Lower costs and less awkward.

When I read your thoughts about camera surveillance and integrity one thought crossed my mind... I really hate when they place the camera in connection to the fitting room in the store! What shall I do? Shall I try on or not? I think it is a bit too much but on the other hand I know why they’ve done it (or at least I think I know...).

I think you weigh up the pros and cons of surveillance in a good way in your writing!

I’m glad that you brought up the question regarding the employee’s moral. It’s a topic that I have discussed quite a lot with my former co-workers at my old job. I used to work in a grocery store and if we had bought anything in the store during the day and as we were leaving work, every now and then a security guard would turn up and check the items that we had in our bags with what was on the cash receipt. This was as you probably can imagine, not very popular with most employees. At the same time, I feel that my employer at that particular time had resort to this method, due to the fact that there was a lot of stealing amongst the staff at that time. So I guess you could say that from an employer’s standpoint, I would most likely accept a drop in moral of my workers, so that I could get a problem, like the one I described, under control.
